Jacob Goebbert is a professional baseball player in the Houston Astros organization. He was selected in the 2009 Major League Baseball first year player draft in the 13th round. As of June 2011, Goebbert is the starting left fielder for the Corpus Christi Hooks.

Goebbert attended college at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. He was a three year starter for the Wildcats, twice earning Big-Ten player of the week honors in 2008. In 2009, while playing at the Metrodome in Minneapolis, Goebbert collided with the outfield wall, resulting in a lacerated kidney and other minor injuries which would limit his junior campaign. At the end of the 2009 season, just as Goebbert was headed to play for the Harwich Mariners (Cape Cod), he was selected by the Houston Astros with their 13th round pick.
Prior to his tenure at Northwestern University, Goebbert attended high school at Hampshire High School in Hampshire, Illinois. Goebbert was a multi-sport athlete, earning multiple All-State honors.
2009: Goebbert was sent to the short season A affiliate for Houston, the Tri-City ValleyCats, where he would hit .238 while driving in 18 runs.
2010: Following a strong spring training, Goebbert was promoted to the Single A Lexington Legends and be among the league leaders with 48 doubles, 98 RBI, and hitting .291. Also earned South Atlantic League player of the week honors.
2011: Goebbert had a short stop with high-A Lancaster JetHawks before being promoted to the Double-A Corpus Christi Hooks.
